Deborah Mukundwa

 

Deborah Mukundwa is a Rwandan national, an ambitious and passionate advocate for justice, climate action, and systemic policy reform. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Global Challenges from the African Leadership University and is currently pursuing a Master's in International Governance and Diplomacy, with a concentration in Development and Environmental Sustainability, at Sciences Po.

Before joining AfaLab as a Climate and Event intern, Deborah served as a youth advisor to the European Union Commissioner at the Directorate-General for International Partnerships (EU-DG INTPA) contributing on issues that has to do with climate and environment, education, gender and youth engagement, she also co-led the Conservation Leaders Network. She has engaged at key regional and global forums, including the AU-EU Forum, ECOSOC Youth Forum, and COP27 and COP28, advocating for inclusive policies, equitable climate financing, and sustainable development that prioritizes communities often left at the margins of decision-making and investment.

Deborah's work is driven by a deep belief that we can only achieve meaningful change by transforming systems that perpetuate social inequalities, and injustices while building coalitions grounded in care, accountability, equity, and intergenerational solidarity.
