Environmental Violence

Elisa Rodriguez

Europe’s colonial violence has targeted natural resources and ecosystems throughout Africa, in addition to individuals and communities.

This has major consequences for the African continent, which, despite contributing only 4 % of global emissions, is suffering disproportionate effects of climate change.

A number of national and international actors are mobilizing to tackle the consequences of climate change on the African continent.

Our lab monitors solutions and mechanisms adopted at the national level to make sure they avoid reproducing structural racial inequalities and truly break free from the matrix of colonial domination that they seek to dismantle.
